The Group of Research Academicians (CA, Spanish abbreviation) leaded by Dra. Leticia Myriam Torres Guerra got different collaborations with well-known Mexico and other countries’ researchers. For example, National Network of Eco-materials: Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM), Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN), Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP), Center for Advanced Materials Research (CIMAV, Spanish abbreviation), Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), Institute of Nuclear Researches (ININ), the Nagaoka University of Technology and the Sun Moon University in South Korea.

Some scientific and technological projects which are being developed by CA members are: technological innovations for environment’s hydrogen and decontamination: energy-ecosystem synergy and new photocatalytic nanomaterials development for purifying water.

Furthermore, they work with porous hybrid functional materials from SiC with no thermal expansion at room temperature, and in research and development of materials for its use in fuel cells; the white cement: iron content influence on its own color; and the benefit of materials for cement industry.

Currently, Dra. Torres is Coordinator and Head of the National Network of Eco-materials since 2006, which is composed by well-known national researchers. On January, 2007, Dra. Torres organized The First International Workshop for R&D networking among Mexican and Korean Universities in Eco-materials Processing in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon with distinguished Korean universities, and in January, 2008 the Second International Workshop in South Korea was carried out.

Researcher is the head of two Bilateral Projects, Mexico-Korea 2006-2009 supported by the National Council on Science and Technology (CONACYT, Spanish abbreviation) and Korea Research Foundation (UANL and Sun Moon University in Korea). Dra. Torres Guerra has gotten some agreements with Japan and South Korean Universities thanks to her connection to important Asian universities, which objective is the exchange of scientific knowledge as well as research stays, which are carrying out for students and research professors.

Dra. Torres Guerra has received more than 50 national and international awards and acknowledgments, the most highlighted ones are that she is a member of the National System of Researchers since 1986, currently Level 3. She has received -twelve times- the UANL Best Researching Work Award in Exact Sciences and Engineering and Technology.

She received ‘Xorge A. Dominguz. S. 1999’ award on December, 1999, which was given by the Mexican Chemical Society, Nuevo Leon Section (State Award by scientific career). In 2002, she was recognized as an expert representative in Latin America materials area by the World Technology Network (WTN) funded by NASDAQ, Magazine Times, and Nature.

Dra. Torres received distinctions: Master of Business Leadership and Master of Business Management given by The World Confederation of Business in Houston, Texas on June, 2005. On March, 2007 she was invited as the UANL representative researcher to the symposium on International Educational Cooperation, which took place in Tokyo, Japan.

During September, 2007 she got the Honorary Doctorate Degree of Education appointment, an Ibero-American Award of Academic Excellence Honor 2007, given by the UNESCO and the Ministry of Panama Education in Panama.

Dra. Torres Guerra was appointed as Board of Director Member of Scientific and Technological Advisory Forum Engineering on October, 2008, during 2008-2011 period. Recently, she was also appointed as member of the ‘Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales, A.C. Board of Government and was Member of the National System of Researchers Evaluation Committee Engineering Area from 2003 to 2005.

Likewise, Dra. Guerra was manager and organizer of different international scientific events. She was President of the ‘Academia Mexicana de Materiales, A.C.’ (2001), Chemistry Society of Mexico-NL (1987), and Association of Scientifics and Technological Academies (2004). She has participated in different evaluation special committees, tutorships, group of research academicians, scientific committees, publishers and national and international arbitration such as the National Council on Science and Technology (CONACYT, Spanish abbreviation), Ministry of Public Education (SEP, Spanish abbreviation), National System of Researchers (SNI, Spanish abbreviation), Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT, Spanish abbreviation), Mexican Academy of Science (AMC, Spanish abbreviation), Materials Research Societies (MRS), International Symposium on Eco-Materials Processing Design (ISEPD), Advances in Technology Materials (ATM) and other organizations.

Dra. Torres Guerra has published more than 120 indexed articles in the Journal Citations Report. She got more than 400 genuine quotations and five patents in procedure. Currently, has managed 48 bachelor, master and doctorate’s degree theses. She is Advances in Technology of Materials and Materials Processing Journal magazine (ATM) editor since 2005. Co-Editor in Latin America of Polyhedron Magazine, Switzerland, 1999.
