In a celebration impregnated with Mexican culture, dance, exhibitions, and conferences, the Diffusion and Investigation Institute of the Mexican Dance will celebrate its 37th anniversary at the “Colegio Civil” University Cultural Center’s (Spanish abbreviation CCCCU) facilities.

To commemorate the Institution’s anniversary, and according to the corresponding Day of the Dead celebrations, the “Tribute to Professor Miguel Velez” will be paid on Saturday, October 31, from 13:00 to 14:30 hours at the CCCCU´s Main Hall.

This time, Professor Velez will be recognized due to his work and contribution within cultural diffusion, by having dedicated an entire life to the Mexican folkloric music promotion.

Also, the ‘Altars of the Holy Dead Exhibition’ — elaborated by the very Diffusion and Investigation Institute of the Mexican Dance — will be inaugurated, from 14:30 to 15:30 hours. Subsequently, there will be time for music and dancing with the ‘Music and dance presentation to remember the Holy Dead,’ in charge of the organization’s representative ballet.

To conclude with its anniversary along with the Day of the Dead´s celebration, the Diffusion and Investigation Institute of the Mexican Dance will organize a round table in CCCCU, with the subject matter of “Rituals and celebration of the Day of the Dead in our territory, headed by researchers in the subject.

With this set of events, the Investigation Institute of the Mexican Dance celebrates its foundation’s 37th anniversary and renews its purpose of investigating, preserving, and diffusing Mexico’s folklore, music, and traditional dances.
