Thirty five years ago, Lic. Neftali Garza Contreras (rip), UANL School of Law Principal, undertook an integral academic reform, and as a consequence of it, the Schools of Journalism, Political Science and Criminology’s creation.
The first coordinator of the School of Journalism was Lic. Samuel Flores Longoria, who –with a group of informative media professionals- created the academic programs for the new career’s eight semesters after the foundation -1970- of Tecnologico de Monterrey’s and Universidad de Monterrey’s Schools of Communication and Information.
Lic. Samuel Flores Longoria, in School of Law classrooms, encouraged a lot for attending in an excellent manner School of Journalism students; four years later, it will get its independence for turn into the UANL School of Communication Science (FCC, Spanish abbreviation) on December, 1978.
CELEBRATING THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY
For this reason, and knowing that the largest way starts with the first step, FCC Principal, who got a Master’s degree in Arts, Roberto Silva Corpus as well as professors and students, will celebrate that important date with an important founder of an institution that has gotten meaningful achievements in Nuevo Leon and Mexico.
This academic program starts on August 31st, at 11:00 o’clock in “Alfredo Piñeyro Lopez” auditorium with a round table discussion managed by Lic. Jose de la Luz Lozano, who is one of first students in the School of Journalism. The head will be Lic. Samuel Flores Longoria, Abraham Nuncio and Alvaro Pareja, professors who started to teach in this career.
On September 1st, the round table discussion will be focused on a tribute to Lic. Silvino Jaramillo, Institution retired professor, who knew how to left a trace, working for more than 30 years among his students of Journalism; two of his students will pay tribute to him: Jose Celso Garza and Hector Hugo Jimenez.
The manager of this round table discussion will be Dr. Jose Luis Esquivel Hernandez, Academy of Journalism head, he will present a professor Jaramillo’s video about the report as well as his contributions and discipline for academic programs.
On Wednesday, this event will take place on University Theater in Mederos Campus, because “Nuevo Periodismo” Award winners will be there and whose Directors Board is headed by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Lorenzo H. Zambrano.
The awards given by this Foundation were focused on Television, Radio and Internet categories, so, UANL School of Communication Science students, and audience, might talk to specialists –from all Latin America- of these media.
