There is no doubt that life is a circus … at least that is what it represents for the professor, painter and drawer Alberto Cavazos who last July 28th presented his exhibition “50 y 70… Y La Vida es un Circo” at the “Colegio Civil” University Cultural Center (Spanish abbreviation CCCCU).
The also sculptor and engraver celebrates this 2009, 70 years of life and 50 of artistic trajectory. Both of which are commemorated by the artist with the production of a new, abundant, and large series of ink and watercolor drawings with the subject of the circus, one of the constants in the work of this recognized professor.
“It has been 50 years of hard work already, of engraving and painting; it has been gratifying. It is necessary for years to pass, but I think that work enriches all of this and one receives the reward of what one lives at its proper time,” he expressed with excitement.
Alberto Cavazos — Protagonist of the Nuevo Leon’s artistic scene; wordy and polemic — has developed a work in which drawing has been its aesthetic foundation since he started in 1959, when he presented his first individual exhibition in Monterrey.
Besides, Rogelio Villareal Elizondo, Secretary of Diffusion and Culture of our Leading Academic Institution, expressed the importance of inaugurating this work by assuring that, besides it takes place in the framework of the CCCCU´s 2009 Summer School, it “reflects the talent and work of the professor during his life.”
“Cavazos transforms with his vision what he has seen and felt. His style is very particular and unique by celebrating 50 years of painting and 70 years of life, which he takes as a circus,” pointed out the Secretary.
Lastly, professor Cavazos felt truly grateful with his Alma Mater, the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, for its incredible support, for opening its doors and making him feel at home when presenting his work, but mostly because he is very proud — from the bottom of his heart — of belonging to the University.
