The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon gave 2008 Best Bachelor and Master’s Degree Thesis Award, in six knowledge areas for encouraging scientific and technological research.

Twelve research workers were acknowledged by the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon with the 2008 Best Bachelor and Master’s Degree thesis Award which was carried out with objective of getting the corresponding academic degree.
Since 1998, the Leading Academic Institution call students to join this contest with the objective of encouraging them to carry out research, a work that is acknowledged with the award given to the winners: a diploma and a check for 22 and 28 thousand pesos in Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree respectivelly.
Doctor Filiberto de la Garza Ortiz, University Affairs Secretary, headed this ceremony and was accompanied by doctor Carlos Guerrero Salazar, Postdegree studies Principal; profesor Luz Natalia Berrum, Bachelor’s Degree Studies Principal, and doctor Mario Cesar Salinas, Technological Development, Research and Innovation head.
THEY RESEARCHED AND WON AN AWARD
In this twelfth edition, 109 works were received, and 59 from Bachelor Degree and 50 from Master’s Degree, which were distributed in six catgories: Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural and Exact Sciences, Social and Administrative Sciences, Education and Humanities, Architecture, Engineering and Technology.
It is too important to highlight that for these works’ assestment, several committees were established in every knowledge areas, and every study was checked by three members of the committee -who are experts in every discipline- and the National Council on Science and Technology (CONACYT, Spanish abbreviation).
Some of parameters to consider are: research clarity problem, objectives definition, work originality, appropriateness of the consulted bibliography as well as language use.
The winners in Bachelor’s Degree Level received a diploma and a check for 22 thousand pesos: Mauricio Martinez Miramontes from the School of Biological Sciences (FCB, Spanish abbreviation) Alejandra Elizabeth Arreola Triana (FCB), Elizabeth Idaly Avendaño Ibarra from the School of Earth Sciences (FCT, Spanish abbreviation), Ruben Martinez Cardenas from the School of stage Arts (FAE, spanish abbreviation), Hector Alejandro Costilla Martinez from the School of Philosophy and Language Arts (FFYL, Spanish abbreviation) and Emma Cristina Cardenas Orozco from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME, Spanish abbreviation).
The winners in Master’s Degree Level received a diploma and 28 thousand pesos: Dinorah Ofelia Mendoza Aguilar from the School of forestry (FCF, Spanish abbreviation), Idalia Garza Veloz from the School of Medicine, Saul Isai Caballero Hernandez from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME, Spanish abbreviation), Fernando Gomez Saldivar from the School of Stage Arts (FAE, Spanish abbreviation), Dora Lucina Gonzalez Quintana from the School of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (FAV, Spanish abbreviation) and Emma Cristina Cardenas Orozco (FIME).
