New Academic and Clinical Spaces in the School of Nursing

Infrastructure and equipment building work with a bigger investment than seven million pesos were opened in the School of Nursing.

For starting the second week of August-December 2009 Semester, School of Medicine authorities –headed by professor Lucio Rodriguez Aguilar- decided to invest a little bit more than seven million pesos in infrastructure and equipment for offering students better education conditions.

So, UANL President Jose Antonio Gonzalez Treviño cut the inaugural ribbon of the Specialized Center for Nursing Practice laboratories: four intelligent classrooms, a videoconference room, and the new small square, as well as facilities which will benefit university institution’s 1 500 students.

Advanced class II students, who are studying sixth semester, have SimMan team in Adults Trauma Shock Laboratory for attending patients seriously ill with simulators’ help (dummies with software).

“This equipment is designed for students have patients with heart attack, in arrhythmia, with the possibility of intubating; it helps us to have patients more real, with the objective of they are calm to attend a real case at hospital,” said Francisco Rolando Martinez.

Previously, the students, used to practice with dummies without software, so, the student did not know patients’ reaction. We have practice and theory with this equipment which is essential in teaching-learning process.

For having these laboratories, four million pesos investment was made; we got this amount with UANL Foundation’s support, Integral Program for Institutional Strengthening (PIFI-SEP, Spanish abbreviation), Rectorate building and FAEN’s resources.

The four intelligent classrooms and the videoconference room have connectivity, the most innovating infocus, computing and furnishing equipment. The investment for this project was 2.5 millions pesos.

For concluding, university authorities went around the small square in which students can share some time together and do their homeworks with wireless Internet. 400 thousand pesos will be needed in order to remodel this area.
