The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL), the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and the Research Center in Advanced Materials (Spanish abbreviation CIMAV) are working on the creation of a multinational Doctor’s Degree in the area of Materials and Nanotechnology.
The aforementioned was disclosed by Doctor Miguel Jose Yacaman — Principal of the School of Physics at the Texan University — during the signing of the academic and scientific collaboration agreement between the Engineer Jose Antonio Gonzalez Treviño and Doctor Ricardo Romo, UANL and UTSA Presidents, respectively.
This alliance — which already existed in the health area — is focused on promoting the joint work in the areas of Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Advanced Materials, Biomedical Engineering, Energy, among other health-related disciplines.
ACADEMIC ALLIANCE
To start up with this new strategic association, two projects have been already defined to support the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, as well as the Mexican investors that want to do business in America and vice versa.
The Engineer Eduardo Reyes Guzman — Head of the UANL World Trade Center Nuevo Leon – UANL (WTC NL-UANL) — explained that on September 30th the seminar “How to do business in America” will be carried out. It is a joint effort among the UTSA Mexico Center, the WTC, and the Mexican Entrepreneurs Association in order to support the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises to expand their commercial relationships with the American Union.
This program’s objective is to look for business opportunities for those American enterprises based in Monterrey and to offer them the UANL/WTC and the UTSA International Trade Center’s services support.
Another project to be carried out is the Certified Global Business Professional program (CGBP). It is oriented to people interested on international trade, such as the customs brokers, which certification is valid all over the neighbor country.
“The CGBP is the only accreditation for the international trade professionals in the United States and in Mexico, and the UTSA International Trade Center is one of the main providers of entrepreneurial and economic development training,” added the Head of the WTC NL-UANL.
Doctor Ricardo Romo — UTSA´s President — was accompanied by Professor Robert Mckinley, Community Services Vice President; Doctor Miguel Jose Yacaman, School of Physics´ Principal, and Doctor Harriet Romo, Head of the Children and Teenagers´ Research Institute.
Likewise, the UANL´s personalities that attended the ceremony were: Doctor Jesus Ancer Rodriguez, General Secretary; Doctor Ubaldo Ortiz Mendez, Academic Secretary; Professor Patrcia Martinez Moreno, School of Physics and Mathematics Principal; Engineer Esteban Baez Villareal, School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering’s Principal; Engineer Juan Manuel Aranda Maltez, School of Civil Engineering’s Principal, among others.
